一九六六年，Simon & Garfunkel憑此曲首嚐流行榜冠軍的滋味。其實此曲早在六三年寫好，
並收錄於他們首張的大碟之中，但不為人所注意。直至有一次被一位DJ偶然選來播放後，
發現樂迷對此曲的反應相當熱烈，唱片公司於是便要求他們重新編排此曲再次灌錄，
結果是一鳴驚人。若非有這次巧合的播放，Simon & Garfunkel可能早已解散了！
科技越發達，人與人之間的距離就反拉得越來越遠，互相交談，中間往往隔了電話，
傳真機，收音機，面對面的機會好像越來越少。大城市裡，人人言不由衷，亦無心聽別人說話，
無形的寂靜就如一個黑洞，把人的真情無聲無息的摧毀吞噬。
